Mangapwani Experience

Mangapwani is a very beautiful area rich in cultural history with impressive scenery and exclusive beaches. Many people just visit the Slave caves and the beach, missing out on the local feel just as the people of Mangapwani are missing out on benefitting from tourism.

With this tour we aim to connect you with the vibrant local community and intimately explore the beautiful surroundings. That is why this tour is done on foot. We will visit a successful organization that helps local people to make a business out of arts and handicraft.

The Mangapwani area was a very important slave trading area and you can still feel this past as you are walking through the plantations where hundreds of slaves were put to work. You can see the cave where the slaves were kept before transportation to other destinations. It is a black page in the history of Zanzibar but it has also contributed to its wealth and shaped its cultural history.

The beach here is very beautiful and after the walk, a delicious beach picnic will be prepared for you. After swimming and relaxing we will walk back to car and return to Stone town.

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8.30am and after the full day tour, you will be brought back around 5pm.
